Welcome!

Hello out there!

My name is Logan Rutherford, and I am sixteen-years-old! I am also the author of The Runners and the upcoming Visitors series!

Some of you may know me from my other blog, Existential Bacon. That blog is still out there, and I will still be updating it. But that is know my personal blog, where I blog about random stuff, and this blog is now where I blog all about my writing.

Well, that’s all I’ve got! I know, it’s not a very impressive first post, but there will be more stuff coming from me soon!

  1. Logan — I read “Runner” this morning and enjoyed it. I’ve gotten parts 2-4 and look forward to reading them soon. Just want to encourage you to keep writing. I’m probably older than your parents but you captured my attention quite well.

I’m so glad that you enjoyed “Runner”! If you enjoyed it, then you are definitely going to love parts 2-4. Please, let me know what you think of parts 2-4 when you’re done with them! I love hearing from my readers.

Logan~I have read the Runner series parts 1-4 and really enjoyed them. I was very impressed with your writing especially at the age of 16 and I hope to read more of your work in the future. I am a lot older then you at 30 and I love to read. Actually on average I read a book a day and have always wanted to become an author myself but everytime I sit down to put my thoughts on paper I can’t seem to find a good way to actually “Start” the book. I will have ideas in my head of the story that I want to tell but starting it off has been a big issue for me. If you have any advice for me I would love to hear it. The blog post “My Writing Process” that I read earlier looks like it could be a big help and I will try to sit down an write an outline of my ideas and see where that leads me but if you have any more advice for me please let me know.

    • Melissa – I am SOOOO glad that you enjoyed The Runners! I love hearing stuff like that. It never gets old! Thank you so much for your kind words regarding my writing. I am truly grateful for them.
Wow! Reading a book a day? I used to be able to read a book in a day (not one a day, though), but I rarely do that anymore, thanks to writing all the time, and because of school. I still read everyday, though!
As far as not being able to “Start” writing a book, I think I have some advice for you. Not sure if it will be helpful or not, but I hope you can use some of it! First of all, I’d say just sit down and do it. I know that it can be very hard to do, like you said, but once you find your “sea-legs”, and hit your stride, it’s a piece of cake. It’s like riding your bike without training wheels for the first time. At first, it’s hard, and kind of awkward to do. You aren’t really sure about it, and you’re scared of falling and hurting yourself. After a while (and a few scrapes and bruises), it just clicks, and you take off. Pretty soon, you’re able to ride your bike without even thinking about it. It’s really the same way with writing. The beginning of the book is hard to write, and awkward. You’re scared you’ll screw up, or you’re just aren’t sure what to do. But after you write for a while, it suddenly clicks, and you take off. Pretty soon, just like riding the bike, you’re able to do it without even thinking. So, hop on the bike! You can’t learn how to ride it unless you try!
I hope I’ve been of some help to you. I’m going to write a post soon filled with lots of tips and analogies, so keep an eye out for that! Until then, if you need anymore help or tips, just let me know! I’d be glad to help.

I think it is to cool that you are writing at 16 and taking the time to get it published. I love the books so far, finished the first book within the hour and a half to read it before dinner……I just couldn’t put it down!! 🙂
