The Enemy (Visitors Trilogy, #2)

Today, I am going to be revealing some info on the sequel to The Intruders, called The Enemy. Here’s a temporary blurb:

Charlie Freeman has been thrown into a situation that he never saw coming: in the blink of an eye, billions of people disappeared.

After the events of The Intruders, Charlie is setting off on the biggest mission of his life: getting the Delzene to save Alex’s life. But when he has no idea where he’s supposed to begin looking, he takes drastic measures.

Not only that, but the Grimms are beginning to mount an offense, which plunges the humans into a war with the Grimms. A war they cannot win.

The Enemy is coming, and they aren’t going to leave until they win. But Charlie may have the key. Everywhere he turns, he is haunted by three words: “under the ocean.”

So, you like? I like.

Speaking of likes, if you like me on Facebook, you’ll notice that I haven’t posted there in a while. I’ve been super busy, and haven’t had the time. But I promise you that I’ll soon make my return! I’ll be posting teasers for The Enemy on Facebook, so if you don’t like me already, just push that thing over there in the sidebar to your right! My Facebook peeps usually know about any news first.

I’ll be doing a cover reveal for The Enemy soon, but I’m having a hard time finding the right picture for it. If you guys know of any sites that offer free royalty free pictures, I would really appreciate it if you left me a comment, or emailed me.

Anyways, that’s all I’ve got for now! On a side note, I graduate on Sunday! I’m so excited! Wish me luck!

Year One

I’m a couple days late with this, but it’s my One Year (and two days) as an Indie Author Anniversary! BOOM! POW! SSSSSS! CRACKLE! I’m going to share my sales numbers over the year, giveaway a copy of The Intruders, and more! Let’s get started.

Runner (May 10th, 2011) : 30,768

Caught (July 31st, 2011) : 26,002

Rescued (September 17th, 2011) : 21,768

Wake (November 25th, 2011) : 21,199

Eden (February 11th, 2012) : 4,425

The Intruders (April 6th, 2012) : 1,134

Total: 105,296 Downloads/Sales over the past year. What do I think about that number? In all honesty, words cannot describe how I feel right now. That’s only, and doesn’t include Barnes and Noble, iBooks, etc.

Wow. There are a lot of these. I loved when I first published Runner, and everything since, has been amazing. You know how people say that you don’t know what it’s like to hold your baby for the first time, until you do it? It’s kind of the same for publishing your book.

I remember the moment Runner went free. I was at a camp with my youth group, and I checked the sales for that month on my iPod Touch, using the WiFi we had in our cabins (it wasn’t much of a camp) and I started freaking out when I saw 300 downloads.

I remember when I wrote Wake over Thanksgiving break. It was a three day session. I loved it.

When I got the idea for The Intruders.

When I wrote Not The End… of The Intruders.

When I wrote The End at the end of Eden.

Do you want to win a signed paperback copy of The Intruders? All you have to do is comment on this status with your email address! I’ll randomly pick one winner to win!

I’ll have some news on The Enemy soon! Here’s to another great year!

The Intruders: Behind the Story

Hey guys,

This is a fun little post that I’ve been wanting to write for a while now. I figured that since The Intruders has been out for a month, now would be an appropriate time to write it. Basically, I’m going to fill you in on a fun bit of trivia/facts about The Intruders.

The Intruders was originally a book called Codename: Apocalypse. It was called that because I didn’t really have a name for it, so I just gave it a codename. It was about a group of kids living in the Royal Bank (the bank at the end of The Intruders is a homage to it), and they had to travel from the bank to Washington D.C., whilst fighting against some super smart zombies. Many things that were in C:A are in The Intruders:

  • The kids meeting up with Celeste and Eko (originally named Chelsea and Chelsea’s boyfriend).
  • The zombies (Grimms) being super-smart. Although, the zombies in C:A could talk.
  • Charlie was the name of the right-hand man to the main character, Michael. Chelsea was the right-hand man before Charlie, but then I made her the leader of group B, before changing her name and not making her a leader at all.
  • The kids having to travel to the White House.

That’s pretty much it.

I started writing C:A before The Runners, and it was going to be split up into chunks, before I came up with the idea about the kid who was chasing himself.

I came up with the idea about the mass-abduction because I was trying to think of a way to have the book start before the zombies came. I couldn’t think of a plausible way to make the world a desolate wasteland in the matter of a few days, so then I came up with the idea of the Visitors. From there, my imagination took off, and the story-arc of the Visitors trilogy was formed.

I know the titles of all three books.

I took me 2-3 months to write the first half, and 2-3 weeks to write the second.

I can now write around 5-7 thousand words a day. That really has nothing to do with the book.

I made tons of covers for the book.

Alright, that’s all I can think of. I hope you guys enjoyed! Let me know if you wanna see me do one about The Runners.
